_ From the cave of St. Thekla to the Temple of Artemis, from prehistoric goddess figures at Çatalhöyük to the mosaics of imperial Hagia Sophia (Holy Wisdom) in Istanbul, we will travel, study, worship and pray together. We will join a local Sufi congregation to experience the Sema (spinning prayer) in its authentic setting, visit ancient cave monasteries to view their priceless frescos, and explore the unique geological features of “Fairy Chimneys” and underground cities.

We will walk among extensive ruins at Pergamon, Aphrodisias and Ephesus, and commune at the pilgrimage destination of the House of the Virgin Mary. We will learn of the passionate spirituality of Mevlâna Çelaleddin-i Rumi (“Rumi”) in Konya, and of the Greek goddess of Wisdom, Athena, in ancient Smyrna (Izmir) where the poet Homer immortalized her guidance in The Iliad and the Odyssey. We will visit the House of Mary in Ephesus, the cave shrine of Thekla, and sites associated with Artemis, Isis, Demeter, Cybele, etc. Yet we will have free time by the Aegean Sea near Kuşadası and in the great city of Istanbul. The complete itinerary and details of costs and registration are provided on this site.
